About us

We are British American Tobacco (Czech Republic), s.r.o. – the Czech branch of the multinational tobacco company British American Tobacco plc, the second biggest tobacco company in the world by global market share.

We have been operating in the Czech Republic since 1994 and hold a robust position in Czech tobacco market. Our  administrative office is located in Prague. We employ more than 150 full time staff. In our portfolio we focus on international brands - Lucky Strike, Rothmans and Viceroy.

All products that we market are manufactured within EU. Our factories are located in Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and the Netherlands. Our products are delivered to our central warehouse in Prague, from where they are distributed throughout the Czech Republic.

We are operating in one of the most liberal regimes on tobacco control within the EU. Smoking is banned in public buildings, hospitals, public transport stops, trains and planes. Regulation in HORECA offers smoking or non-smoking environment decided by the HORECA establishment. Advertisement and promotion is allowed at points of sale and regulated by national legislation and our self-regulatory tool International Marketing Principles. We are successfully building on our combination of an international approach and experience with capabilities and effort of our young Czech team. Our plans for the future are very ambitious.

2005  Launch of Viceroy taking corporate share from 6% to 13%

2006  Focus on Kent and Pall Mall

2008  Merger with Scandinavian Tobacco (STK) delivering all time high 21.3% market share

2011  Focus on Lucky Strike, Rothmans and Viceroy

2014 The Czech Republic becomes the leading country in Central Europe Cluster (CEC)
